Strengthening Sustainable Livelihood for Dhaka Slum People during pandemic in Bangladesh

Objective: Increasing the family income of 350 couples (700 beneficiaries) of the Dhaka slum area, contributing to improved livelihoods & raising awareness on the Covid-19 pandemic situation, prevention & control of COVID-19 & Gender-Based Violence.

 Activities:

a. Family Analysis ( SWOT) & Development Plan Session: 350 couples (700 beneficiaries) to assist in analyzing their own family strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats which will contribute in planning for their respective participants' family development plan.

b. Skill Development Training: Beneficiaries will be enrolled in respective trades with respective institutions batch by batch as according to regular and also modular courses throughout the project period.

c. Orientation of Micro-business development: Based on the family development plan selected 100 beneficiaries who are inclined to be self-employed rather than seeking employment or planning to start their own micro-business development training. This training will enhance participants' entrepreneurial competencies.

d. Initial Investment Support: Raw materials/equipment as initial investment support will be provided to 100 participants as initial business support according to their micro-business plan.

e. Awareness of COVID-19 prevention and Gender Discrimination & Violence: These awareness sessions on COVID-19 prevention, gender-based discrimination & violence will be carried out with 350 couples ( 700 beneficiaries). All the participants will improve their attitude in terms of the COVID-19 prevention initiative within their families as well as improve their communication, understanding, handling, and problem solving of family situations, towards creating a better functioning home environment.
