TARANGO celebrated International Women’s Day 2025
TARANGO celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 along with its development partner Ms. Maria Bøge & her Team from Denmark and Ms. May Haris-Prince from the UK. This year’s theme was "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”, which emphasises on the importance of achieving gender equality and empowering women & girls globally. The entire session was presided by Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO & U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO and Ms. Maria Bøge & Mr. Filip Engsig-Karup. The event started with a brief introduction of the esteemed guests and women artisans of TARANGO; followed by a cultural program, self defence display and certifacte distribution among computer learners of the Girls club members of TARANGO.
Organic Shoshyo Vandar (OSV) participated in the Banglar Voj (food festival); from 6th to 8th February, 2025

Organic Shoshyo Vandar(OSV), is a safe food venture of TARANGO. It supports 950 women farmers in Bandarban and 800 women farmers in Ajimnagar Island, Horirumpur, Manikgonj. These farmers produce safe ecofriendly food. OSV participated in the Banglar Voj (food festival); from 6th to 8th February, 2025 held at Mostafa Kamal Atarturk Park, Banani, Dhaka. It was a wonderful event that highlighted the importance of organic produce and showcased the food of different regions of Bangladesh along with raw ingredients/components. Thanking the entire organic produce team who made the event possible.

It was an honour and pleasure for Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO; to meet the British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, at the reception for the departing delegation and reiterated the UK's commitment to expanding UK-Bangladesh trade collaboration. The event had other wonderful women entrepreneurs who are all set to lead a trade mission to the UK next week, with the support from the UK Government SheTrades Programme. They will be showcasing their businesses, meeting investors and exploring new opportunities.

TARANGO celebrated Happy New Year 2025 on 1st January 2025 with all of the Women Artisans of Dhaka office and its members. As the New Year was a weekday therefore its CEO, Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin and Director, U Thein Maung presided a brief discussion about the coming year of 2025. We were also joined by our friends from different NGO’s and collegues from different offices. Though it was a small celebration but a meaningful one for the entire TARANGO family.
A "Self-Defense Training" program for 40 adolescent girls began on 19th December,2024

A "Self-Defense Training" program for 40 adolescent girls began on 19th December,2024 and will run for three months under the Girls's Club in Urban Slum-Addressing Challenges & Expanding Opportunities", project funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. The initiative aims to empower girls by preparing them with essential life skills to confront various challenges and difficult situations they may encounter in their daily lives. It seeks to create a supportive environment where girls can learn to protect themselves both physically and mentally. The program plans to train a total of 160 girls, ultimately. It is a fruitful and effective training.
TARANGO organised a Leadership Development Training for 14 adolescent girls on 11th December 2024

TARANGO organised a Leadership Development Training for 14 adolescent girls on 11th December, 2024, under the Girl’s Club in Urban Slum-Addressing Challenges & Expanding Opportunities project, funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. The objective of the training was to empower these young girls by enabling them with essential leadership skills, confidence and knowledge. In order to become peer leaders in their communities and advocate for positive change, raise awareness on social issues and contribute to build an unprejudiced and supportive environment for adolescent girls in the slum communities. The training sessions were facilitated by Ms. Selina Newaz Khan, Gender Specialist.

On 24th December, 2024, TARANGO distributed 500 blankets among the project beneficiaries living on the Azimnagar Island at Harirampur, Manikganj; with the support of the Shanto-Mariam Foundation. This initiative is part of the project titled "Organic Agriculture: A Step Towards the Green Economy to poverty reduction through improvement of economic situation & living conditions of people”. The project is implemented by TARANGO and funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO, facilitated the session with local elites, the project’s manager and team members and representatives of Shanto-Marium Foundation. This year's winter is fueled by global climate change and shifting regional weather patterns, signaling a tough winter ahead for millions across the country and specially in the mentioned area.

On 27th December, 2024, TARANGO organized an exposure visit for nine female farmers to Pran Baicttra Khamar at Kaotia, Manikgonj. Under the project Organic Agriculture: A step towards the Green Economy support to contribute poverty reduction through improvement of economic situation and living conditions of people in Azimnagar, Harirampur, Manikganj, funded by the Bridge of Light. The visit aimed to motivate farmers and share knowledge about organic farming by covering various topics about benefits of natural farming, local resource utilization, organic fertilizer production, pest management, seed conservation and many more. The session was concluded by an open discussion led by Mr. Delower Jahan, Owner & Entrepreneur about the natural farming system. The women farmers were all extremely fascinated with the new insights about farming and was eager to implement it in their own land.

TARANGO organized a informative and inspiring session on "Breast Cancer Awareness" under 'Girls Club in Urban Slums of Dhaka- Addressing Challenges & Expanding Opportunities project funded by Lichtbrücke e.V. Bridge of Light, on 27th October,2024. This year’s Breast Cancer theme is “No-one should face breast cancer alone”. The session was commenced by Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO; the Honourable Chief Guest was Dr. Md. Jashim Uddin, Additional Managing Director, PKSF. The facilitators were Dr. Sarah Banu Suchi & Professor Dr. Jebun Nahar; and the Special Guest was Ruhi Das, Honorable B oard Member. Chairman of Oikko Foundation Apu Mahfuz and his team members were also present in order to cover the programme. The session was extremely fruitful and interactive. October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness; which is an annual international health campaign organised in order to increase awareness of the disease and its prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. A small drama and dance session regarding the issue was also performed by Girls Club members of TARANGO.
Commonwealth Alumni Session & Celebration of 65 Years of the CSC, was held at British Council Bangladesh

We are delighted to mention that recently a Commonwealth Alumni Session & Celebration of 65 Years of the CSC, was held at British Council Bangladesh, Fuller Road; where Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO & Commonwealth Fellow; was one of the speakers. She gave an exclusive session on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Job Creation. It was an event on reconnection and Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Job Creation. The event was presided by Mr. Stephen Roland Forbes, Country Director, British Council, Bangladesh. The Commonwealth Members over the past years were present at the event, of which all shared their experience and thoughts. It was a wonderful learning and exchanging session.

25 Holistine/Frezian breed Haifers were distributed among selected beneficiaries at Azimnagar, Horirampur, and Manikgong on 28th August, 2024; under Organic Agriculture: A step towards the Green Economy support to contribute to poverty reduction through improvement of economic situation and living conditions of people for the Azimnagar project. This project is implemented by TARANGO and funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO, Mr. Dewan Masud, Mr. Musarof, a local elite; were present at the distribution program. Such an initiative will help to develop the livelihood of the people of the area and play a vital role in the economy of a country.

A duckling distribution program was held on 8th August, 2024 at Azimnagar, Horirampur, Manikgonj as part of the “ Organic Agriculture: A Step Towards the Green Economy “ project. This initiative aims to reduce poverty by improving the economic situation and living conditions of the people in Azimnagar, Horirampur, Manikgonj. The project is implemented by TARANGO and funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO presided the event; with some special guests which included Mr, Kbd. Dr. Shahidul Islam, former Director General of the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, Mr. Nur Ahmed Bakul, Representative, Bridge of Light, Germany, Mr. U Thein Maung, Director of TARANGO, Ms. Nazlee Jamal, Senior Coordinator and Mr. Kbd. Aktar Hossain, Project Manager were also present during the session. Ducklings were distributed among, selected beneficiaries, contributing to the project’s goal of supporting sustainable livelihoods and promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE, USA distributed 300 Christmas Gift Boxes (educational & entertainment materials) on 1st July 2024 among the Survivor’s women’s of TARANGO Shelter Home & Artisans Children’s, Pre-School Children’s from Harirumpur, Basantapur, Manikgonj. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO & Md. Abul Hossain, Manager-Admin distributed the Gift Boxes among the children’s. All the children were very happy to get the materials (pen, pencil, rubber, small car, soap, dolls, towel and many more). Everyone prayed for the well being and growth of Samaritan’s Purse, USA & Operation Generation, Bangladesh.

Vulnerable families were expressed deep gratitude to Islamic Relief Bangladesh for their great support during the period of Eid Festival. Bangla-German Sampreeti (BGS) distributed RAMADAN Food Aid to Artisans of TARANGO on 21st March 2024 funded by LiFE, France
Bangla-German Sampreeti (BGS), a non-government organization distributed the Ramadan Food items to TARANGO artisans on 21st March 2024, held at 282/5, 1st colony, Mazar Road, Mirur-1, Dhaka. Mr. Abul Hossain, Manager, Admin of TARANGO distributed the Ramadan Food items among the Artisans. A total of 40 artisans received the food items. Each food items contain were 50 Kg rice, 2Kg pulse, 3 litre oil, 3 kg potatoes, 2 kg onion, 1 kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg date & & 1kg chickpeas . It was distributed in a disciplined manner in presence of Mr. Abdul Matin, Coordinator, Sewing section, Mr. Probir Malaker, Sr. Assistant Designer & Ms. Shahida Sultana, Senior Assistant Coordinator, Handicraft were present in the distribution event. TARANGO Artisans are very much gratitude for such a support to donor LiFE, France & BGS for their continuous food items support for TARANGO artisans who observe the rites of fasting in Ramadan properly, the most significant religious norm and commitment.

Shanto Marium Foundation donated of Winter Clothing (Blanket) on 26th December’2023 at Azimnagar Island, Harirumpur, Manikgonj by in memory of Late. Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto, Founder Chairman. On behalf of Shanto-Mariam Foundation Mr. Major (Retd) Nasir Uddin, Project Director of Shanto Nibash, a freedom fighter who had contributed to the liberation war distributed the blankets among the 500 (five hundred) helpless men and women. At this time, smile appeared on the face of the helpless cold people after received the blanket. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director & Mr. Probir Malakar, Designer participated to the “14th Malaysia GIFTS Fair 2024”, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia held on 18th to 20th June’24. At the fair, H.E. Md Shameem Ahsan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia along with other senior officials visited Tarango stall, Bangladesh Pavilion. During his visit, he expressed his satisfaction with the vibrant presence of our exhibitors and also exchanged views with them. From the organisers part Mr. Ivan Loo, President, Malaysia Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA), Albert Choong (Asst. Secretary General, MGPA and Organizing Chairman, 14th Malaysia Gifts Fair) and Ms. Suzanna Operation Manager, MGPA accompanied the High Commission team.

TARANGO celebrated World Environment Day 2024, at Azimnagar Union High School; with its students who are members of the Environment Club. The event was funded by Lichtbrücke e.V.Bridge of Light, Germany.This year the auspicious day focuses on land restoration, stopping desertification and building drought resilience. It was a 2-day event; the first day, on 4th of June, Essay writing and Art competition was held about World Environment Day. On the second day, 5th of June, Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO; Ms. Ruth Zumbuhl, Advisor, TARANGO; Awlad Hossain, Principal of Azimnagar Union High School; UNO Chairman and local elites distributed prize, planted trees in presence of esteemed guests.It was a wonderful 2 daylong event, but however we all hope to do our bit for our planet and our surrounding. Let us all work together to protect our world.

This theme is aligned with the designed to advocate for gender equality, foster empowerment among girls, and enhance awareness regarding women's rights and contributions, with a particular emphasis on Investing in women; which also means creating scopes for them so that they can pursue their dreams and career development. International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. Mother Language Day is part of a broader initiative "to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by people of the world" as adopted by the UN General Assembly on 16 May 2007 in UN resolution. On this day many have given their lives for Bengali language, to be the Mother Language in Bangladesh in the year 1952. On the occasion of Martyrs Day & International Mother Language Day 21 February 2024, TARANGO organized a discussion meeting at the working areas of Mirpur Branch, Dhaka, Karatia & Rampur Branch-Tangail, Agaljhara & Goila Branch, Barishal and Kaliakair Branch-Gazipur. TARANGO staffs, beneficiaries & artisans were participated the event successfully. TARANGO family is proud to be part of such an important movement and bestow our utmost respect for the martyred souls.
TARANGO won the best stall award

TARANGO being a PO of PKSF had the great opportunity to be part of the ‘' Suponyo Samahar-Environment Friendly Small Enterprise Fair 2024 ” held from 8th till 10th February, 2024; at the Bangabandhu National Conference Centre(BICC), Agargaon, Dhaka. It was a fair for Entrepreneurship Development under Sustainable Enterprise Project with financial assistance of World Bank and PKSF. It was a beautiful and exquisite event. Moreover, we are also proud to say that TARANGO won the best stall award. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO, received the award.
TARANGO family celebrated New Year 2024
TARANGO family celebrated New Year 2024, with all of its family members and well wishers. It was a wonderful event; where it’s Chairman, CEO, Director and esteemed guests were greeted with flowers and also gave a brief speech about the fondness of TARANGO and its auspicious work for the communities. We all also pledge to unite, inspire and transform together and stand to protect women and girls in this New Year. TARANGO organised an ‘Awareness Campaign ‘on 28th November’2023

On the Occasion of ‘16 days of Activism for no violence against Women and Girls’ TARANGO organised an ‘Awareness Campaign’ on Environment and Climate Change at Azimnagar Union High School, Harirumpur, Manikgonj; with the students and members of Environment Club on 28th November’2023. It was a fruitful event lead by Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO and Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO. The local elites and Head Master Mr. Chowdhury Awlad Hossain of the school was also present at the event.

The event was held at AISD, Gulshan and at the ‘Youth Club’ in Gulshan, Dhaka, led by Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO on 24th & 25th November’2023.

TARANGO is very proud to announce that, its CEO, Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin was given the honor to be a panellist at the seminar arranged by DCCI for ‘Improving Export Capabilities of SMES: Succeeding Globally upon LDC Graduation’; held at The Westin Dhaka on 7th October 2023. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, Honourable Speaker, Bangladesh Parliament. There were Honourable Ambassadors from Canada, India, Saudi Arabia; diplomats and elites from different trade sectors. It was a wonderful and insightful event.
US Embassy, Dhaka visited TARANGO on 17th June’2023
On 17th June, 2023; ‘The Community Liason’ office, US Embassy, Dhaka; visited TARANGO. The trip was lead by Ms. Liz Hilliard, US Embassy, Dhaka. About 25 members came to visit TARANGO, in order to learn about Women Development work as a fair trade organisation and also see the work of the women artisans. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO and Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO welcomed the esteemed guests upon their arrival and explained the development work. Overall, was a fruitful visit which was highly appreciated by the guests.
Single Women Leaders from Nepal visited TARANGO on 15th May 2023
On 15th May, 2023, 23 Single Women Leaders from Nepal visited TARANGO Dhaka Office. The team included Maya Devi Sharma ,MP; EK Maya Deputy Mayor; Ram Devi Tamang, Deputy Mayor; Pramila Tajhya ED WHR and Upasana Rana, WHR Team Leader. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO & General Secretary, SANWED-Bangladesh, welcomed the guests and explained the work of TARANGO. The Chair of SANWED-Bangladesh was also present during the event. WHR ED and team leader shared views and ideas about their work also; and was overwhelmed by seeing all of the work and women artisans of TARANGO. It was a wonderful learning experience for them and also for TARANGO.

Bangla-German Sampreeti (BGS), a non-government organization, organized a food distribution program at Shyamoli Kallyan Housing Estate at Mirur-1, Dhaka. Mr. M. Anisuzzaman, General Secretary, Executive Committee of BGS distributed the food items on 09th March 2023 among the artisans of TARANGO. A total of 40 artisans received the food items. Each food items contain were 25 Kg rice, 2 Kg pulse, 2 litre oil, 3 kg potatoes, 3 kg onion & 1 kg salt. It was distributed in a disciplined manner in presence of Mr. Pain Shwe U Marma, Executive Director (ED), BGS, Mr. Zahidul Islam, Treasurer, BGS, Mr. Abul Hossain, Manager-Admin TARANGO & local elites were present in the distribution event. TARANGO Artisans are humbled with gratitude for such a support. Thank you very much donor LiFE, France & BGS for their continuous food support for TARANGO artisans, since the pandemic started.

TARANGO & VSO UK-Bangladesh jointly celebrated the “International Women’s Day (IWD)”on 7th March, 2023 at TARANGO Head Office; 282/5, 1st Colony, Mazar Road, Mirpur-1, Dhaka-1216. International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on 8th March, as a focal point in women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Digit ALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. This theme is aligned with “Innovation and technological change and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

ADAMS, ANANDO, BACE, BGS, LB, DIPSHETU, HDRC, MSUK, SSF-B, & SHAPLA. Professor Dr Abul Barkat, Trustee (Hons.) LB Germany in Bangladesh moderated the workshop & presented about the topic of “Climate Change, Inequality, Poverty: Towards Humane Development. Mr. Holger Trechow, Managing Director of Lichbrucke e.V, Germany presented a presentation on climate change : A Challenge for Everyone. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO , TARANGO participated as an International Speaker to the One day International Conference as an esteemed speaker on the topic of “Export Strategies in SAARC Countries” held on 25th January 2023 at Kolkata, India which was organized by NGO Swyan Udyogo Nari (SUN), Kolkata, India in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India for help uplift women entrepreneurs to pave their way to self sustainability as well as bridge the gap between SAARC nations and explore the export opportunities. Ms. Yeasmin presented a slide presentation a focus on the Export Opportunities and the Marketing Strategies among the participants. Among others Ms. Kinley Pelden, Bhutan, Ms. Shaira Saleem, Bhutan & Ms. Basanti Pradhan, Nepal were the International Speakers in one day International Conference.

TARANGO is delighted to participate in DNCC-OIKKO Holiday Market, held in Agargaon, Dhaka on 13th & 14th January, 2023. His honourable Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated the event along with honourable Dhaka City Mayor Atiqul Islam & few elites graced us with their presence. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO was present as well along with her team, with organic safe food from the Hill tracts of Bandarban. Produce made by the organic initiative of TARANGO, named ‘Organic Shoshyo Vandar’, with indigenous farmers (mostly women) of Bandarban, are brought here for the local people to have a flavour of pure safe food. It has been a magnificent event and initiation by the organising team.

A medical camp was organized by TARANGO on 13 January 2023 at Tarango Shelter Center (ASROY-a safe home for vulnerable women and their children). Dr. Peter Ackle, Switzerland & Dr. Christine Beis, Germany came to check on the health of the women and their children at the Tarango 'Asroy center' and examined the health of more than 50 women and their children. Ms. Nazlee Jamal and team accompany and support medical team. After that they also visited the Tarango's handicraft program and exchanged greetings with the artisans Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, Tarango gave her heartiest thanks for their times for the children’s and women health check up. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director and Mr. Abul Hossain, Manager admin also presented. Both doctors are impressed and hopeful for future cooperation.

Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO participated two days long event ‘Grow Your Network’ signature conference held in LE Meridien Hotel in Dhaka between 16-17 October’2022 and she played a vital role in the event.“It is our collective responsibility to identify, address, and eliminate barriers preventing women and girls from achieving their dreams,” said. On the first day WOB’s were trained on how to improve their business and also deal with large corporations. They also had the opportunity to network with a community of women business owners to learn from and potentially grow their businesses. And on the second day the WOB’s met probable buyers and there was a round table meeting between the corporations and WE-Connect family.

Skill Development Training on Jute Handicraft held at T Batkura Karatia, Tangail

A Skill Development Training on Jute Handicraft from 09th to 22nd March’2022 was held at T Batkura, Karatia, Tangail. Total 26 beneficiaries were received the training for developing capacity and making earning process for betterment livelihood. The training was conducted by Ms. Basanti Rani & Nila Rani, expert trainer from handicraft section at TARANGO, Lalmonirhat. Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO was inaugurated the training session. She stated that, TARANGO vision and mission is the making poverty free society through women’s empowerment by giving training and to make the women resourceful, skill and production oriented, she also inspired the women artisans for developing the skills by the receiving of the training properly. A 3 day-long (27, 28 & 29 November 2021.) Training program was held on, “Entrepreneurship Development Training & Business Plan for ME”, under the Sustainable Micro Enterprise Project (SEP). The event was held at the Training Center of TARANGO’s Karatia Branch Office, Tangail. The project is being funded by PKSF and implemented by TARANGO. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO & Ms. Shamsun Naher, Business Development Officer were conducted the training session. Mr. Satya Ranjan Das-Project Manager, Mr. Khokon John Palma, Documentation Officer, Md. Golam Mostafa, Technical Officer, Ms. Onamika Akhand, Finance & Procurement Officer were present in this Training Program. A total of 17 Micro Enterprise Participants who are also the beneficiaries of the project of Promoting Environmental Friendly & Specialized Loom Product of SEP were present. The Training Started at 09:00 am to 04:00pm on every 3 days.

On 1st and 2nd of December 2021, TARANGO celebrated 16 days Activism of “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!” of “International Women Human Rights Defenders Day” which was funded by Fast Retailing and supported by UN Women under the project of “Women and Girls at the center of COVID-19 Prevention and response through livelihood options and GBV services”. As it was a 2 day event, therefore on the first day; youth volunteers from SOS TVC and adolescent girls from the girls club participated the session. These young minds are our next generation and they can surely ‘Orange our World’. On the second day, during the morning, there was a campaign in the local community based on the discussion on ‘Rights & Reality of both genders and Misconception in our society’; of the previous day. However, during the second half of the day, various events took place. Among it, was a speech from representatives of UN Women, Managing Director of PKSF, local community member, Principal of SOS, police and religious leader. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Nomita Halder, NDC, Managing Director PKSF. Among the special guests were Ms. Giulia Pelosi, Program Specialist, EVAW; Ms. Tapati Saha, Program Coordinator, Women’s Economic Empowerment & Ms. Zefroon Afsary, Capacity Building Support EVAW from UN Women; graced the occasion.Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO presided over the event. Also, the senior coordinator of the project from TARANGO Ms. Nazlee Jamal and the entire TARANGO family was present during the events. All of them discussed about the women’s rights and survivor of GVB together and our communities outlook on women’s and girls rights. A small cultural event also took place during the session and the youth took a stand in stopping violence against women and girls.

The members of PKSF family met and shared experiences with TARANGO’s organic farmers and beneficiaries, saw their seed banks and also saw some of their organic produce. They even enquired about the VSLA ( Village Savings & Loan Activities) there. It was a very fruitful daylong event.

On 11th of November, 2021; about 16 Heifer ( Bakna Claf) were distributed among the beneficiaries of the project “Poverty Reduction through Organic Farming” at Bandarban, Bangladesh. The Project is jointly implemented by TARANGO and Eco-Development, funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. During the event, Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO of TARANGO, Mr. Thun Hla Khine member EC committee, ECO Development and the project’s team members were present. Along with them, local area elites and Deputy director of District insemination Centre Bandarban, Ministry of Fisheries and livestock Dr. A.K. M. Humayun Kabir were present. The event was fruitful and every single beneficiary was excited and grateful to receive their respective livestock.
“Awareness on Environment Training for ME†was held on 5th of November, 2021 at TARANGO Training Center, Karotia, Tangail

On 5th of November, 2021; a day-long Training program was held on “Awareness on Environment Training for ME” under the Sustainable Micro Enterprise Project (SEP) at TARANGO Training Center, Karotia, Tangail. A total of 15 Micro Enterprise (ME) participated the training who are also the beneficiaries of the project of Promoting Environmental Friendly & Specialized Loom Product of SEP. However, 10 out of the 15 ME were women. Mr. Rishadul Islam Ratul being the Environment Officer was the moderator and trainer of the training. The training session was conducted in a participatory way. ME’s were participated in the training with lot of enthusiasm. They were committed to take part in any environmental activities arranged by TARANGO in future. They were motivated to work on awareness building among their family members as well within their community. ME’s have been able to understand the importance to clean surrounding of their factories where they are working as well as gain knowledge on practicing all the 20 environmental issues mentioned in this project. Training on Environment Management was held September 27, 2021 at Tarango Training Center, Karotia, Tangail. Md. Risadul Islam, Environment Officer, SEP, TARANGO was the facilitator in the training. Total 09 staff members were participated in the training session. Mr. U Thein Maung, Director, TARANGO was present in this Training as focal person. Md. Risadul Islam, Environment Officer, SEP, TARANGO conducted day-long training session. The training contents were as follows: Concept of Environment Management, Sustainable Environment Management, Targeted Goals of the Sustainable Environment Management, Safe Working Environment, Planning of Environment Management, At present pollution of Loom Industries & how to overcome, Practice & Mechanisms of Sustainable Environmental Management. At the end of training session a training outline was discussed in a participatory way. The outline will be compiled with some visuals and images for ME’s Training as Training Module so that ME’s can understand easily & can practice all the 20 environmental issues mentioned in this project.

We are deeply sadden by the sudden demise of Mr. Narayan Chandra Saha (07/09/1955-19/06/2021); one of the Founding members & Vice Chairman of Executive Board of TARANGO. He was a very special person for us and will be truly missed by many. It was an honour to have known such a person and was a privilege to be able to work with him. He will never be forgotten and will always reside in our hearts and memories forever. Our sincere condolence goes to his family for their great loss.

On the Occasion of International Women's Day 2021, TARANGO celebrated the event on 9th March 2021, based on the theme “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World”, at 10No. Ward Council’s Office in Mirpur, Dhaka; under the project of “Women and Girls at the centre of COVID-19 Prevention and response through livelihood options and GBV Services”, financed by Japan Government and supported by UN Women Bangladesh and implemented by TARANGO. Ms. Shoko Ishikawa, Country Representative of UN Women; Ms. Giulia Pelosi Program Specialist of UN Women (Elimination of Violence against Women program) and Ms. Zefroon Afsary, Program Administrative Support (EVAW of UN Women) were present at the occasion.
Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO of TARANGO; with the beneficiaries of the project were present at the event, along with the Local Elites, Ward Counselor, Police, Artisans and community people. Shelter Home beneficiaries, Community people and Girls Club members shared their experiences and delivered the event’s message and their changes through Dance, Self defense performance and Drama in-front of 200 participants in two phases. The event was very empowering as well as emotional. It was a day dedicated to the Women and Girls for their betterment and rehabilitation.

TARANGO organized a 'Self Defense Training' for its 46 survivor women beneficiaries along with 14 Girls Club members at Mirpur Indoor Stadium, Dhaka on 11 February 2021. The objective of this training is to : Empower and enable them to defend against any type of physical assault, to provide knowledge about the different tips of self-protection to keep in mind in different situations, to build self confidence. Total 700 beneficiaries received the Gift packages which includes rice 15kgs, soap 2pcs & mask 8pcs respectively under the "Covid-19 Prevention and Emergency aid" with the support of Bridge of Light, Germany. Awareness Development Training for Shelter Home Beneficiaries & Community People
Jute Hand Sewing Craft Training

TARANGO has organized a 3 month long Jute Hand Sewing Craft Training on 7th December 2020 for the vulnerable women with the aim to improve employability and income-earning opportunities for women and for enhancing sustainable development and livelihoods during COVID-19 period.
Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO presented welcoming speech & briefed them about TARANGO interventions & shared the project activities. Honourable Secretary of Bangladesh Government Mr. Dulal Krishna Shaha, Executive Chairman, NSDA, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of the people’s Republic of Bangladesh has inaugurated the training event as a Chief Guest as well as Mr. Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon, CIP, Chairman, ISISC, Mr. Munsur Hasan Khandaker, Vice Chairman, ISISC, Mr. Mahbubul Islam, Member Secretary, ISISC were present as special guests. Besides this, guests visited sample section, sewing section as well as production unit to see how women craft artisans produce Eco-friendly aesthetic diversified jute products for export market.
Total 30 women participated in the session in 2 batches. This training has been being conducted by Ms. Shamsunahar & Tahura Begum, expert Master Craft Trainers. Mr. Abul Hossain, Manager Admin, Ms. Nazlee Jamal, Senior Project Coordinator & Mr. Abdul Matin, Coordinator Production were also present in the inaugural event.
Agro Business Development Training

TARANGO has arranged an Agro Business Development Training on 06th Dec’2020 that will last till 10 Dec’2020 venue at the Cotton Development Board Training Center, Balaghata, Bandarban under the “Poverty reduction through organic farming at Bandarban” Project Bangladesh which is funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. The project is being implemented by jointly TARANGO & Eco- Development. A total of 20 beneficiaries have participated in the training. The training is being conducted by expert trainer Ms. Zeba Parvin & assisting by Mr. Montu Rozario.

TARANGO has arranged an Awareness Development Training for Community People
TARANGO has arranged an Awareness Development Training on 02 December 2020 for Community People under the project of “Women and Girls at the Center of COVID-19 Prevention and response through livelihood options and GBV Services” which are being supported by UN Women, funded by from the people of Japan & implemented by TARANGO.
The training topics were COVID-19 Pandemic situation & GBV, causes, consequences and prevention, Gender/GBV, Self-awareness, Safety and Ethics. The training were conducted by Ms. Nazlee Jamal, Project Coordinator & Mst. Mariam Begum, Training and Job Placement Officer. All participants were very much satisfied and pledge that they will be utilized proper manner as per received from the training guideline.
35 Palm fiber artisan families received Gift packages from TARANGO with the support of The Dharma Door, AUS.

Gift packages were distributed among the 35 Palm fiber artisan families from Pachkhur, Poli Vugoil, Utra, Shikor, Arola, Khiar Vugol, Damrul, Soto vadahar, Poshinda, Pirapath, Belgari, Chalknajib, Chadmuha, Nandigram village under Kahalu Upazila in Bogura district on 19 November 2020. Each Palm fiber artisan received amount of BDT. 1,000 (One thousand taka) as gift with the support of The Dharma Door, AUS.

Training on Organic Crop Management

Training on Organic Crop Management was held on 21st to 25th November 2020 under the “Poverty reduction through organic farming at Bandarban” Project Bangladesh which is funded by Bridge of Light, Germany. The Training was being implemented by jointly Tarango & Eco- Development. A total of 25 trainees were participated.
Kbd Dr. Nazim Uddin, Bangladesh agriculture research institute, senior scientist & organic farming researcher was conducted the training. Presided over by Kbd M.M. We Mourn

TARANGO Family deeply mourns the demise (cardiac failour) of its beloved Ms. Arjuda Begum on 19 May 2020 at the age of 65. Ms. Arjuda Begum started her journey with TARAGO from June 2006. Since then she worked devotedly as skilled artisan quality section.
We express our condolence to the members of her bereaved family and pray to the almighty for the salvation of her departed soul. May the almighty rest her in eternal peace.

Ms. Surungini Somaddar, General Board member of TARANGO, Paisarhut, Agoiljhora, Barisal. She served as GB member from 1994. TARANGO started its Handicraft program journey (1989) in Kodombari, Barisal at the house of Surungini Somaddar.
TARANGO Family is deeply shocked for the demise (sudden cardiac death) of Ms. Surungini Somaddar on 8 May 2020 at the age of 83.
We will surely miss the presence of her, a truly lovable and kind person. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her and her family. She will never be forgotten, may her soul rest in peace.

CEO TARANGO Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin will leave for New York today at the evening by Emirates to participate New York Now Trade Show (10-14 August 2019). Director Mr. U Thein Maung will accompany her. The She Trades - a Commonwealth Project funded by the UK aid extends technical support (Product Development) to TARANGO in connection with New York Now Trade Show.

Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO, TARANGO attended Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference & Business Fair in Baltimore, Maryland during 23-27 June 2019. The event is hosted by WEConnect Project funded by IFC, World Bank.
The event apart from Business fair will also arrange a seminar on ‘Corporate Connect: Strengthening Market Access for Women Owned Business’ on 27 June at World Bank office. The CEO, TARANGO will speak there as Panelist. The Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Md. Mofizul Islam will also grace the seminar.
It is expected that the market for diversified jute products of Bangladesh will be further expanded at USA because of the proactive role of WEConnect Project
International Women's day 2019

Day 1: 7th March 2019
Children’s Art Competition, Singing & Dancing Competition organized with the aim to provide these under-privileged children a unique opportunity to present their capabilities to the society and expression of the creativity and imagination
Day 2: 8th March 2019
In 2nd day the colorful Traditional boat race, cultural program competition and cultural programs arranged in the 8th March 2019. A total of 12 groups (132 members) with 12 boats took part in this competition and each group consists of 11 members with a team leader. Each boat has flags and was named with native flowers of the country for identification. All women wear similar saris (white & red, yellow and red) and caps. The boat race divided into two rounds. Each round 6 boats have participated. The three lead boats from each round were selected for the final round. Seven boats took part in the final round and in the final round.

Nicholas Picard (With garland) from IFC funded WEConnect Project visited TARANGO this morning of 25 March to see jute and other natural fibers products produced by TARANGO for different international markets. Weconnect Project is helping women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh to facilitate entering international markets.
On the other hand, Ms. Shanon (3rd from Left in the 1st Pic) and Mick (2nd from Right in the 1st Pic) are our importers from Australia. The name of their company is Dharma Door. They are our Business Partners for more than a decade.

ASROY (Shelter Home) is a program of TARANGO

ASROY (Shelter Home) is a program of TARANGO established in the year 2011 with the support of Spanish Government. Located at Mirpur, it gives shelter to violence victim women as well as their children. On an average, 25 women and 15 children live there round the year.
TARANGO bears the running expenses like food and other recreational activities of the Home. Our buyers from different countries also extend support to the Shelter Home.
Ms. Shanon and Mick (Both in white dress), our buyers from Australia are now in Dhaka to see our production unit and during that time, they visited the Shelter Home on 25 March and spent time with the children. Most of the women were then out of the Shelter Home because they were then at their workplace.

She has developed a Social Business Model and the model is being implemented by TARANGO for the economic empowerment of vulnerable women. At present, TARANGO has 18,800 beneficiaries including 3,000 women crafts artisans. It is expected that the number of beneficiaries will rise to 50,000 in 2021 in commensurate with the 2021 vision of the Government !!
It may be mentioned here that, earlier in 2019 Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin has won the 'Kirtimoti Shammanona 2018' in the category of Entrepreneurship Development sponsored by Square Group (Handed over by Ms. Annika Chowdhury of Square Group on 02 March 2019) and best woman entrepreneur 2019 Award in the category of the export of Diversified Jute Products. Kohinoor received the prestigious National Award form the Honorable Prime Minister on 06 March,the day was declared by National Jute Day 2019 !!

Fair Trade Day 2019

Tarango BD celebrated World Fair Trade Day on 11 May, 2019 with its women artisans in Dhaka like all over counties of the world. The message of the day is to ensure fair wages for the workers, safe workplace and no gender discrimination.
Director, U Thein Maung, Adviser Emdadul Haque, Admn. Head Abul Hossain, Project Coordinator Nazlee Jamal and Project Manager Satya Ranjan Dasspoke on the occasion.
All gave different examples of how Tarango BD has been adhering the rules of fair trade since its inception in 1989. All were in consensus to work in a sense of togetherness to alleviate the image of Tarango BD further thus establishing it as a trend setting outfit of Social Business.
The event ended with a documentary show on Tarango BD and its Women Boat Race at Barisal !!
