Safe Home for women and their children
ASROY (Shelter Home) is a program of TARANGO established in the year 2011 with the support of Spanish Government. Located at Mirpur, it gives shelter to violence victim women as well as their children. On an average, 25 women and 15 children live there round the year.
This initiative aims to support gender violence victim women through shelter & day care, psycho-social counseling and legal assistance, skill development training and job placement as well as sensitizing the community on prevention of gender violence. This project initially funded by AECID, Spain and provided following comprehensive care and services:
- Safe shelter and food for women and their children
- Psychosocial Counseling to overcome the mental stress;
- Legal support, Awareness and Information of their rights & laws;
- Vocational and skills development trainings and job linkage support;
- Basic literacy lessons;
- Day care service for the children;
- Health care, support groups and other awareness raising activities;
- Referral to other agencies and professional service providers
